Maia Sandu, meeting with the delegation of Lithuanian deputies: Security risks in the region - among the topics discussed
The security risks in the region, triggered by Russia's war against Ukraine, and its effects on our country's economy and on the energy sector, were the topics discussed by President Maia Sandu and the delegation of Lithuanian deputies, visiting Chisinau.
The interlocutors also talked about the bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Lithuania and the process of our country's accession to the European Union. Maia Sandu appreciated the support of the Vilnius authorities, including in obtaining the status of a candidate country for EU accession.
According to the press release of the Presidency, Lithuania, through the Program for the Democracy Promotion and Development Cooperation, financed the implementation of 145 projects in the Republic of Moldova. Our countries have excellent cooperation in defence, internal affairs and border management.
Likewise, Lithuania supported the development of the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
