Moldovan parties called to unite for European integration
Igor Munteanu, leader of the Coalition for Unity and Prosperity, called on democratic and pro-European parties in Moldova to discuss common themes for the country's future.
Munteanu said that this would help to combine efforts, including in the process of European integration.
"This would mean consultations and dialogue between pro-European political parties and between state institutions. Strengthening the strategic partnership between the governments of Romania and Moldova, following the Polish model that is currently in operation. We ask development partners to consider the possibility of sending a mission to facilitate political dialogue between the parliamentary opposition and the current government," Munteanu said.
Other political leaders have also proposed creating a platform for consensus for EU accession, following the example of the Snagov Declaration.
On June 21, 1995, the leaders of the parliamentary parties in Romania signed a joint declaration in Snagov on Romania's National Strategy for preparing for EU accession. Experts have mixed opinions about such an agreement in Moldova.
