Textbook split: Moldova tackles heavy backpacks

The Moldovan Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) is exploring a solution for hefty backpacks: dividing bulky textbooks into two parts.

This initiative, targeting primary and secondary schools initially, aims to "reduce the weight of students' backpacks," the ministry stated in a press release.

"We are inviting parents, teachers, and students to participate in this decision-making process," the MEC emphasised, encouraging feedback through a survey available on their website until February 4th.
