The Republic of Moldova and Romania boost their military cooperation
The Republic of Moldova and Romania will support each other in terms of the preparation and participation in missions and operations within the multinational coalitions, carried out under the auspices of the UN, OSCE, NATO or the EU. This is logistical support, transport, telephone and internet services. Also, Chisinau and Bucharest are to support each other financially and medically, including in cases of evacuation in emergency situations. At least that is what provides the second protocol for amending an agreement between the two countries, completed with a new article "Mutual support in the case of missions and operations", which will be put to a vote on June 19, in the Government.
The draft law on the ratification of the second Amendment Protocol to the Agreement on military cooperation between Moldova and Romania is to be examined at the meeting on Wednesday, June 19, by the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the Ministry of Defense, "the document stipulates that the Moldovan soldiers participating in international missions will be logistically supported by the structures of the Romanian Army."
"The National Army also has similar examples of cooperation in other international missions such as KFOR in Kosovo and UNIFIL in Lebanon, where Moldovan peacekeepers work within the contingents of the Italian Army," stated the Ministry of Defense. The second Protocol amending the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Romania regarding cooperation in the military field was signed in Bucharest on May 24, 2024.
