Moldova Exports to EU Boom: Agriculture Leads Growth

The Republic of Moldova exports over USD 2.8 billion worth of goods to the European Union, a key market for the country. Nearly half (around 48%) of these exports are agricultural products.

According to a recent broadcast on Jurnal TV, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), Vladimir Bolea, highlighted the significance of the European Union for Moldovan exports. Minister Bolea emphasised the EU's stability, high prices, depoliticized environment, and clear quality requirements as key factors driving Moldovan exports to the bloc.

Data presented by Minister Bolea indicates that the Republic of Moldova currently exports more than USD 2.8 billion to the EU, with roughly 48% composed of agricultural goods. Romania and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) account for a combined USD 1.4 billion in Moldovan exports, with an additional USD 200 million exported to other destinations.

Looking ahead, Minister Bolea predicts even more pronounced growth in Moldovan agriculture due to the country's strong economic ties with the European Union. He also anticipates a significant rise in poultry production facilities within Moldova in the coming years.
