Moldova amends constitution, eyes EU future
The Republic of Moldova has taken a significant step towards European integration with the entry into force of constitutional amendments approved by referendum on October 20.
The amendments, published in the Official Monitor, have officially become law.
The revised Constitution now explicitly reaffirms Moldova's European identity and its commitment to EU integration as a strategic objective. It introduces a new chapter dedicated to European integration, outlining the legal framework for the country's accession to the European Union.
The Moldpres Agency will publish a new edition of the Constitution this week, reflecting the recent amendments. The publication will be available in both Romanian and Russian.
"This new edition is a testament to the people's will, especially those in the diaspora who played a crucial role in the referendum," said Vitalie Hadei, director of the Moldpres Agency.
On October 31, the Constitutional Court confirmed the results of the referendum, validating the public's support for European integration.
