Operational results of the EU Security Hub for Internal Security and Border Management of the Republic of Moldova will be discussed in Brussels

The Justice and Home Affairs Council of the European Union (EU), meeting in Brussels, will today discuss the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and civic space, immediate action to combat racism and anti-Semitism, judicial responses and the fight against impunity for crimes committed during Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

The operational results of the EU Security Hub for Internal Security and Border Management of the Republic of Moldova are also presented. The Security Hub meeting will be co-chaired by European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson and the Moldovan Minister of Interior Ana Revenco.

The European Union Security Hub for Internal Security and Border Management of the Republic of Moldova, created last year, has achieved results that speak in favour of strengthening this mechanism - reads the briefing note presented by Commissioner Ylva Johansson to the members of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council, before starting discussions on operational results.

The EU's Directorate-General for Home Affairs is due to assess today in Brussels a real-time response mechanism to protect European countries from hybrid threats from the Russian Federation. The Republic of Moldova is assessed in this context as a key element in the new European security architecture.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova has provided relevant analytical products in the field of transnational crime, hybrid threats and incidents posing a risk to public security in the region and in Europe - according to a press release from the Ministry of Interior in Chisinau.

After reviewing the activity report for the first six months, European officials will discuss proposals for the development of the Security Hub in the immediate future. There will also be a technical session on the subject of closer involvement of the Republic of Moldova in EU counter-terrorism mechanisms.

The Security Hub's agenda for 2023 includes improving strategic analysis and forecasting capabilities in the field of security, by leveraging IT and information exchange between Moldovan and EU experts. The Hub also aims to create synergies and avoid duplication of spending in the field of home affairs in Moldova and the EU.
