"He is a unique man. You, Volodimir, are unique. Having received the mandate from your people, you were suddenly called to a unique mission, which no one could have foreseen," Andrzej Duda said.

"None of us, a year ago, after the Russian invasion, could have known what would happen to Ukraine and what would happen to you personally. Without a doubt, we know that your attitude, together with the heroism of the heroic Ukrainian people... will save Ukraine from Russian aggression," Andrzej Duda added, calling Volodimir Zelenski "a man of exceptional qualities".

Volodimir Zelenski and his wife, Olena Zelenska, are in Poland for what is expected to be the largest state visit the Ukrainian president has undertaken since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
